2025: A Year In Review

A Year of Meaningful Victories for Our Family

As we reflect on 2025, the team at McElroy Parris Trial Lawyers (MPTL) is humbled by the opportunity to have represented remarkable people and families through challenging periods of their lives. Our firm's commitment to handling a select number of serious injury and wrongful death cases allowed us to dedicate the time, resources, and expertise necessary to achieve life-changing results for our clients.  Here are just a few examples:

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) Cases:

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) remains one of the most misunderstood and devastating conditions in personal injury litigation. This year, we successfully concluded three significant CRPS cases, demonstrating our firm's deep expertise in this challenging and complicated intersection of medicine and law.

The first case involved a client who suffered a foot injury after falling in a dangerous construction area. What began as a traumatic injury evolved into full CRPS, a debilitating chronic pain condition that fundamentally altered our client's life. The second case similarly involved a foot and ankle injury that developed into CRPS, this time following a motor vehicle collision. In the third case, a woman suffered a foot laceration due to a dangerous condition on a sidewalk and developed CRPS in her foot and leg.

All three of these nice people were disabled by CRPS and required extensive medical management while we were involved.  Their cases needed substantial investment in experts, including experts in physical medicine, rehabilitation, pain management, and vocational specialists.  Out team put together a case to help the jury understand the devastating impact of CRPS and other chronic pain disorders. We secured substantial settlements for these clients, with particular emphasis on ensuring adequate funding for their significant future care and support needs. These recoveries will provide our clients with the resources necessary to manage their chronic pain and maintain some quality of life for years to come.

Wrongful Death Cases

This year, we represented families devastated by preventable tragedies. In one particularly case, we litigated on behalf of a widow and her children after their husband and father was killed when the roof of his truck was crushed by a falling object. The loss of a spouse and parent is immeasurable, and while no amount of compensation can restore what was taken, we were able to secure a substantial recovery that will provide financial security for this deserving family's future.

In a second tragic case, we represented the family of a woman that was killed at a care facility after receiving numerous psychotropic medications followed by multiple injections of a cocktail intended to restrain her.  The woman died in her bed of drug intoxication after patients checked failed to reveal that she was in distress.

Brain Injuries and Polytrauma Cases

In another challenging case, we represented a wonderful young husband and father who suffered a catastrophic brain injury and multiple spinal fractures due to a defective product that caused him to be severely injured.  After several long years of challenging litigation, we successfully concluded this complex product liability matter, ensuring that our client and his family have the resources necessary for his extensive ongoing care and rehabilitation, and the best quality of life possible for him and his family.

We were also able to secure a substantial recovery for young professional man who was hit by a car while riding a motorized scooter.  He suffered a mild traumatic brain injury and required more than a year of rintesive rehabilitation before he was able to return to his profession.

Spinal Cord Injuries and Paralysis Cases

After years of persistent advocacy, we successfully resolved a case involving a young man who suffered a one-story fall on a dangerous condition on the defendant’s property, resulting in a severed spinal cord and permanent paralysis. The substantial settlement will help provide for his lifetime care needs and adapt his living environment to accommodate the challenges ahead.

Perhaps most heartbreaking was our representation of a small child who suffered a traumatic amputation due to a defective condition on a store escalator. This preventable tragedy changed a young person’s life forever. The substantial recovery we obtained will help compensate for this terrible loss and ensure that significant future care and support will be available to her as she grows and adapts to life with this disability.

 Hearing Loss Cases

We also represented a woman who suffered permanent hearing loss during a motor vehicle collision when the explosion from her side airbag damaged her inner ear.  While airbags are designed to protect, this deployment caused by a negligent driver resulted in a serious and permanent injury. We successfully held the responsible driver and his company accountable and secured compensation commensurate with the lifelong impact of this injury.

Looking Ahead

Each of these cases presented unique challenges—difficult facts, complex medical issues, complicated legal questions, and serious injuries or loss of life. What united them all was our commitment to our clients and our determination to secure justice on their behalf. These were not quick settlements; they were hard-fought victories that required extensive investigation, expert collaboration, years of dedicated litigation.

The substantial recoveries obtained in these cases will significantly impact the lives of these injured persons and their families for years to come. At MPTL we measure our success not in the number of cases we handle, but in the depth of our commitment to each client and the meaningful difference we can make in their lives.

As we enter 2026, we remain dedicated to our mission: Providing exceptional representation to a select number of clients who have suffered serious injuries or devastating losses. We are grateful for the trust our clients place in us during difficult times, and we are honored to serve as their advocates in the pursuit of justice.
